I grew up in Japan in the 90s — what retro game felt huge to you, but unknown elsewhere?

I grew up in Japan in the 90s, and some games felt absolutely huge back then.

But looking back, I realized many of them were barely known outside Japan.

It’s interesting how different the experience was depending on where you lived.

For me, games like Sakura Wars and Rayearth had a really strong presence.

What’s a retro game that felt big in your country, but wasn’t well known globally?
