Highland Park paid $750 per ride to DART for the 237 Bus

For some comparison, for $750 per ride that HP was paying , I can fly you to Hawaii and back, twice for a distance of 15,137 miles.

I had no idea HP was paying this much to DART for so little service. HP is small, so it's not like it would benefit from more service.

Reddit and this sub in particular is against the government wasting money - $750 per ride when an Uber costs less than $50 (I'm shooting high here) is waste and abuse of taxpayer money.

Just because the taxpayers are seen as more affluent doesn't make it right.

Everyone loved to hate Spirit Airlines until it went out of business.

Do you think we would feel as bad if Walmart, Dollar General or Kroger went out of business?

Walmart and Spirit are more similar than they are apart as they offer low prices for customers that can't afford anything better. Why is Spirit Airlines so loved and Walmart so hated?

The same argument goes for Dollar General or Kroger.

Spirit paid their staff less money than the major airlines. It's not like they treat their employees like royalty.

Spirit treated their customers terribly but most came back because they couldn't afford to fly another airline.

They are basically the Walmart of the skies but people hate Walmart but love Spirit?

Help me with this inconsistency

Spirit Airlines is preparing to cease operations.

The ailing budget airline had been hoping to finalize a $500 million lifeline from the government before running out of cash. The discount carrier hasn’t been able to get sufficient support between certain bondholders and the government to secure the funding to keep it in business, people familiar with the matter said.
