As many of you already know, the May 2026 update still isn’t available for some Pixel devices. While waiting, I tried a bunch of things to reduce battery drain, and my Pixel is finally lasting much longer instead of needing to be plugged in 3 times a day.

Some settings that helped me mentioned on https://www.reddit.com/r/PixelReviews/

As many of you already know, the May 2026 update still isn’t available for some Pixel devices. While waiting, I tried a bunch of things to reduce battery drain, and my Pixel is finally lasting much longer instead of needing to be plugged in 3 times a day.

Here are some settings that helped me:

  1. Set Battery Saver to turn on earlier (mine is at 75%). I don't like extreme battery saver.
  2. Switch preferred network to LTE
  3. Turn on Adaptive Battery (though some users report better results with it off)
  4. Clear cache/data for the Play Store and make sure it’s updated to latest version
  5. Restrict background battery usage for unnecessary apps
  6. Clear cache/data for Device Health Services
  7. Clear cache/data for the Google app
  8. Disable all permissions for the Google app
  9. Keep GPS/location off unless needed
  10. Disable Wi-Fi scanning / “show available networks”
  11. Turn Bluetooth off
  12. Disable “Now Playing”
  13. Turn off Always-On Display
  14. Disable Gemini / Assistant / “Hey Google”
  15. Turn NFC off unless required
  16. Dark mode helps a little
  17. Set screen timeout to 30 seconds
  18. Use Data Saver during video calls
  19. Watch/activity tracker apps were draining too much battery for me, so I removed them
  20. I don’t use Facebook/Instagram, but if you do, restrict their background activity
  21. Turn off Adaptive Connectivity (some Pixels work better with it on though)
  22. Clear Pixel Launcher cache and avoid third-party launchers
  23. Remove games you don’t use
  24. Delete/reset advertising ID
  25. Avoid live wallpapers and screensavers
  26. Disable Instant Apps
  27. Disable usage & diagnostics reporting
  28. Disable Nearby Device scanning
  29. Turn off Live Translate / Live Listen / voice typing features if unused
  30. Restart the phone every couple of days
  31. Avoid exposing the device to extreme sunlight/heat

There are probably more tweaks out there, but these gave me a pretty big improvement so far.

Would be happy to hear if any of this helps others too, or if you found additional fixes.

No May 2026 update for the Pixel 6 series again. Pixel 6 devices are among the most affected by battery drain and overheating issues, yet there’s still no proper fix.

Why this unfair treatment toward Pixel 6 users, Google?

Pixel 6 series phones are still officially eligible for security updates, so owners deserve equal attention and support.

The battery drain and overheating problems seriously affect daily use. Since these issues came after updates, Google should acknowledge them and provide a proper fix as soon as possible.

Any suggestions for a replacement battery for a Mid-2014 MacBook Pro? Looking for the best option based on actual user experience. There are tons of models and brands out there, and many reviews seem fake, so I’d really appreciate recommendations from people who’ve genuinely used them.

Not sure if it’s just my Pixel or if others noticed this too.

On 30 April 2026, my Pixel 6 series device suddenly started behaving much better. Since yesterday, there’s been no unusual drain and the phone stays much cooler during normal use. I’m currently on the March/April 2026 update.

Could be random, but it honestly feels like Google changed something in the background.

If things improve even more with the May 2026 update, that would be amazing.

If this continues, great job Google.

Is anyone else’s Pixel worse after the March/April update?

Not sure if it’s just my phone, but ever since the March/April update my Pixel has been acting up.

Battery is draining way faster than before. I used to get through most of the day without thinking about charging it, now I’m checking it all the time.

Now I’m literally charging my phone like 3 times a day. And I’m not even doing anything heavy—no gaming, no GPS, just normal use like scrolling and basic apps.

Phone also gets warm for no real reason. Even during simple use or sometimes just sitting idle.

And overall it feels buggy now. Small lags, random glitches… nothing huge on its own, but together it’s annoying.

Honestly makes me wonder why these updates get pushed out if they’re not properly tested. Isn’t that basic quality control?

Anyone else facing this or is it just me?
