I'm hoping someone can weigh in because I have scoured the internet and I can't find a for sure answer. I am applying for a Spousal visa (husband has dual citizenship in US and Ecuador, and I'm from the US). We are working on having our marriage formalized in Ecuador through the consulate so that I can apply for that visa. I have all of the documents for the visa (or so I thought), but when we called the consulate, they said that our documents need to have two apostilles. One for the original document and then another apostille for the spanish translation. Does that sound right to you?
So for example our marriage certificate needs to have the apostille, translation, notarization, and then another apostille? It sounds so backwards. I thought we were doing okay document wise, but apostilles take a while and we are moving to Ecuador at the end of the month so I am under the gun. If any of you could weigh in on your experiences that would be amazing.
