Zwift click setup questions about gearing..
Hi groovy Rouvy riders!
I just got my bargain Zwift click in the mail and have it up and running on my derailleur bike. It seems pretty slick!
I’ve been searching online for an hour and having a hard time wrapping my head around how this works 😵💫
My bike has 48/33 chainrings and 13-32 cassette. What physical gear should I put the bike in when planning to use virtual shifting? I keep reading that it doesn’t matter (other than chainline) but I don’t understand why it doesn’t matter. Can someone explain it like I’m five? 🙃
If I’m satisfied with it, I plan to convert to a Gates belt drive with a 50t ring and a 22t cog and use virtual shifting exclusively. The belt’s tooth pitch is smaller than a chain at 11mm, so the ring/cog are more similar in diameter to 43t/19t standard chainrings. Is that a good ratio for the Click? I’m using an Elite Direto XRT.
My goal is to make my trainer as simple, quiet, and non-greasy as possible, while making sure my gear range is the same as my outdoor bike. Most importantly, I want to make sure I’m not simulating a gear lower than 1:1, since that’s the lowest I have in real life.
Thanks so much and if his has been well covered elsewhere, which it probably has, please just point me in the right direction 🙂
