A village near me is known to offer free charging, even though it is advertised at 59p on Zapmap. They are a bit of a think-outside-the-boxy village, but it’s very much an open secret rather than something they advertise. It seems that when the charging point was set up they attached a 0p price plan to it, so the handful of EV owners in the village benefit whilst the parish picks up a negligible increase to its electricity bill.
Is this common? Do other villages essentially give away free electric as a perk to its residents elsewhere in the country?
