Hi everyone,

I’m planning to buy my first car, and I have zero driving experience, so I’m trying to choose something beginner-friendly and practical.

My key requirements are:

  • Automatic transmission (CVT/iVT or DCT)
  • Push button start
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Reverse camera (360 cam optional)
  • Good ground clearance (this is important for me due to road conditions)

I recently checked out the Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) IVT variant. It seems to tick almost all my feature boxes. From what I’ve seen, it includes TPMS, reverse camera, push start, and IVT gearbox, which I like.

However, I have a couple of concerns:

  1. Ground clearance – I’ve read that the i20 is a bit low compared to other cars in this price range. As a beginner, should I be worried about scraping on bad roads, speed breakers, etc.?
  2. Price – I’ve been quoted ₹10.35L on-road in Telangana (without extended warranty and Shield of Trust). Does this seem like a fair deal, or should I negotiate more?
  3. First car suitability – Is the i20 IVT a good choice for a complete beginner, or should I consider something like a compact SUV for better confidence and clearance?

I’d really appreciate input from current owners, especially regarding:

  • Real-world ground clearance issues
  • Ease of driving for beginners
  • Whether going for a higher ground clearance car is worth it over a premium hatchback

I really appreciate any help you can provide.
