I switched from hyprland to niri over the weekend and I absolutely love the paradigm for windows management that niri has.
One problem I have is my desktop machine's main monitor is very tall and i find it impossible to use the top 33% so I normally have some dashboards and glance-able information up there. I couldnt figure out how to get this to work correctly in niri.
So I prototyped a qt webview that allows me to load up some web apps and it reserves the top 33% for me. It follows me around desktops and is exactly what i needed. This is very rough and mostly vibe coded with claude.
Is there a niri native way to do this? I looked at the docs over the weekend and I dont think it is possible and maybe this is a unique problem I have with this monitor.
