Hi all,

Recently discovered this page in my Beestat and wanted to dive into making my AC system more efficient. I live in Southern AZ so I am not worried about dehumidification, and actually would be happy to have less dehumidification (but not at the cost of AC efficiency)

Key details up front: Stage 1 pulls 2.2kW, Stage 2 pulls 3.3kW.

What I’m thinking is since my stage 2 uses 50% more power than stage 1, it would be more efficient to use stage 2 when the Cool 2 Delta is > 1.5*Cool 1 Delta. If this is the case, the photos show that 78 Degrees outdoor temp or higher it would be most efficient to run Stage 2 only. Am I missing something here? I understand I wouldn’t get the same runtimes and thus less dehumidification (which I’m not worried about) and given my cool threshold is enough (1.5s currently) I should have sufficient off times between cycles. Thought?
