First Timer - Looking to buy!
Hi all! My wife and I have never done any RVing, but have been casually discussing getting some sort of RV (travel trailer, truck camper, van) for about a decade now. Since we lost our dog a few years ago, we have become much more serious.
After spending many, many, MANY hours researching we have decided that we want to focus on either a fiberglass travel trailer or a fiberglass truck camper. Everything that I have read tells me that making the investment in one of these types will minimize unexpected problems (leaks) and help ensure that if we want/need to sell it, we won't lose our shirts.
Since we have never done any RVing before, we aren't super picky on brand or style. We are running on the assumption that: a) We will catch the RV bug, and the first purchase will help us figure out exactly what we want/need or b) It won't be for us and we'll end up selling it.
The biggest issue that we have run into is that there is a dearth of these options available locally. I'm willing to travel basically anywhere in New England to check them out (we live in Western Maine), but it is rare that something pops up locally on Craigslist, FB Marketplace, Fiberglass RV Classifieds...
I thought that we had found one last summer - it showed up semi-locally in an area of Maine that we had plans to travel to anyway, but it had been stored within splashing distance of the ocean and the undercarriage rust had me running away....
I've got alerts set up all over the place, but I wanted to reach out here as well. If you or someone you know is thinking about selling, please let me know! Our budget is roughly 25K, so that probably excludes newer Oliver and Escapes, but seems to be in the right range for Scamps and Casitas, as well as some of the older brands such as Boler and Trillium.
Thanks, and happy RVing!
