Jointer or Larger Planer

Everytime I want to pull the trigger on a joiner I always stop and have been able to find another way through the project. My DW735 with shelix upgrade however? I use almost constantly.

I get that jointers are an awesome convenience but I would need some serious workshop remodelling to include 1. Already wired for 220V for bandsaw, tablesaw, dust collector etc, so that isn't a barrier. My issue is the machines actual utility per dollar.

Would you be better served just getting a 15" planer with helical head. A bit more floor space than the dewalt but much more flexibility.

8" jointer and 15" planer are pretty comparable pricewise too.

Thoughts my brothers in sawdust?

Gas Prices...

As a Costco member, I usually take advantage of their gas stations to fill up. The process is membership card, credit card and pump until it stops.

Last Friday, I needed propane as well so went to a regular gas station where you have to tell the attendant how much you want to pay first. I threw out what I considered a high number, $110. Didn't even get to 3/4 full. 3/4 tank for $110 or 22.5 gallons for $110!!!! And a propane refill is currently over $30!!!

We have several local refineries and are a net exporter of petroleum products, there is no excuse for this. This is just late stage capitalism at its finest, bankrupting society with no endgame where we all win.

Made using a African Mahogany over a plywood shell. Rock solid!

I added some green dye to the top and initially freaked out because it was too green. Had to do some sanding to tone it down. In the end it worked out to hide gaps between the glue-up.

Slats were glued to sack cloth with titebond 3. No issues at all. Watched some YouTube videos to see how that worked.

Main difference between my doors and others is the tambour doesn't hide around the sides.

I made slats from a really pretty board so wanted to preserve the woodgrain from one side to the other and feel I accomplished that well.

It now lives in the corner of the living room replacing my first attempt. That one sent me to the ER to get stitches. Zebrawood splinters in unexpected ways...

Next project will be to replace that coffee table with something that can hide the board games.
