Have seen others claim that Suriya is a Yadav, when he actually belongs to the Kongu Vellalar Gounder caste.
Have also seen some claim that Yash is a Goud, when he actually belongs to the Vokkaliga caste.
Ethnically, Samantha is half Telugu/half Malayali, but she has always said she identifies as Tamil due to being born and brought up in Chennai.
However, in recent years, she seems to have completely ditched her Tamil identity and embraced a Telugu one.
She permanently shifted to Hyderabad from Chennai, both of her husbands have been Telugu, 9 out of her last 10 films were Telugu, she now proudly calls herself a “Telugu ammayi.” She also converted to Hinduism, and we know Tollywood is much more Hindu-oriented than Kollywood.
Do you think this is for commercial reasons, or has she fallen in love with Telugu culture/cinema?
