
Low Arousal Threshold - What Works For You?
Hello everyone. I took a sleep test in December and have been struggling with CPAP as I wake up every 30 minutes. My guess is that I have a low arousal threshold. Here are some stats from my test:
AHI: 24
RDI: 36
Oxygen nadir: 87%
I have cycled through numerous masks and most recently landed on the F&P solo mask. It is excellent for comfort and I fall asleep easily but still get woken up. A few weeks ago, people mentioned that my leak rate could be keeping me awake. I got some mouth tape and got leaks down to virtually 0. However, I am still waking up.
I have tried lower pressure last night to see if that worked, but again, I woke up after 30 minutes. I have also tried ramp, no ramp, EPR 1-2-3, climate control, top level heat. Probably more as well.
Please keep in mind that the vast majority of my time with the mask on, I am awake. So I get a ton of sleep wake junk. Usually the last 30min-1hr before a day ends is when I am actually asleep. I show no events in these periods.
I'm curious how people have overcome this.
