Portland Talks Inclusion—Who’s Actually Hiring?

Hey Portland community,

I’m a job developer working with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, and I could really use your help right now.

This job market has been tough, and I haven’t had a placement in a while—the pressure is definitely building. I work with an amazing group of clients across the Portland metro area (Gresham, Damascus, Milwaukie, Beaverton, and Portland). Many of them have culinary training, love working with animals, enjoy connecting with people, or are looking for roles like dishwashing and back-of-house support.

What I’m really looking for are employers who genuinely value inclusion—places that believe people with IDD can absolutely succeed with the right support in place. Ideally, folks who are hiring right now or have upcoming opportunities.

If you know of businesses, organizations, or even specific managers who are open-minded and inclusive (or if you are one!), I would be so grateful for any leads, suggestions, or connections. Even a warm introduction can go a long way.

Portland is such a kind and community-driven place, which is why I’m hopeful reaching out here might spark something. Everyone deserves the chance to work, contribute, and show what they’re capable of.

Thank you so much in advance for any ideas or support ❤️
