Don't fear the riser cables, make them fear you (Acer/A-Open AT proof of concept)
Finally decided to embark on an AT conversion mod with as minimal dremel work as possible, and I decided to do that by the use of riser cables and M.2 -> Oculink adapters to give an ITX board with bifurcation (the biggest board I could fit here) the ability to host multiple PCIE devices. This prevents me from having to chop up the back of the case, move the power supply, or sacrifice any of the drive bays I'll be utilizing for storage devices.
This is currently a proof of concept, it boots and is stable with PCIE set to 4.0 in the bios (I don't own any 5.0 devices) and I'm able to experiment with AI and lossless scaling without any issue (hence the two GPUs)
I was going to modify the cooler on the 4060ti to an ITX version but decided to vertically mount the main rendering GPU instead because that gives me the ability to use better and bigger GPUs in the future while continuing to use the 4060 LP as the output.
Next steps are to mount a dual SFP+ 10Gbe NIC and an HBA so I can mount a storage bay in the expansion slots
