Arcadia Mayor Agrees to Plead Guilty in Federal Foreign Agent Case
Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang has agreed to plead guilty to a federal charge related to acting as an unregistered agent of the People’s Republic of China, according to the U.S. Department of Justice and ABC7 reporting.
Federal prosecutors allege Wang worked under the direction of PRC officials to promote Chinese government interests and messaging within the United States without registering as required under federal law.
According to the DOJ, the conduct included promoting PRC government narratives and positions related to Taiwan while participating in influence efforts tied to local politics.
