I purchased a Honda Amaze VX CVT 2 weeks ago. It's a great car with a very good transmission in the price.

Now, I'm not able to decide if I should get Extended Warranty & Road Side Assistance from Honda or not. Extended warranty is costing me 14K for 7 years unlimited kilometres (First 3 years free from Honda and 4 to 7 years costs 14K) and RSA is costing 6K for 5 years.

Also, if I should buy a TPMS or not because I generally get my tyres air checked at fuel stations while filling up the fuel and also have a tyre inflator for emergency purposes.

After a lot of consideration and uncountable test rides, I finally pulled a trigger on Amaze VX CVT Meteoroid Gray for my family. It has replaced my 2013 Hyundai i10.

We had a budget around 10 lakhs and wanted an Automatic Transmission only. Hence, manual options were out of the window. The cars that were checked out by me and father separately before conclusion were Tata Punch AMT, Altroz AMT, Altroz DCA, Baleno AMT, Fronx AMT, Fronx TC, Swift AMT, Dzire AMT, Exter AMT, Grand i10 Nios AMT, i20 CVT.

Below are the reasons why each car was excluded

  1. Tata Punch AMT & Altroz AMT - Jerky AMT, Tata Service, 2 months long waiting.

  2. Tata Altroz DCA - Smooth Transmission but expensive. DCT Transmission known issues. TATA's world class service in handling these issues.

  3. Baleno AMT & Fronx AMT - Much Smoother than Tata's AMT but still noticeable jerk in gear changes. Baleno looks outdated and Fronx lacked some major important features in that particular variant.

  4. Fronx TC - Wayyyy above and beyond our budget.

  5. Swift AMT & Dzire AMT - Jerky AMT and average build quality. Also, the poor service by dealerships.

  6. Exter AMT & i10 AMT - Basically the same cars as our current one and we wanted a change from it.

  7. i20 CVT - Closest 2nd contender in our list. Ultimately got eliminated due to looks and Hyundai Dealership ignorance in providing us a test drive vehicle.

So far the driving experience of Amaze has been excellent and has clocked 900 km in 2 weeks. It took out 9.5 lakhs from my bank account through CSD and almost reached 10 lakhs with all other accessories and necessities.

Edit- CSD is Canteen Stores Department which provides retail services to Indian Armed Forces Personnels and certain Defence Force Personnels. It is generally cheaper as items sold here are tax exempted or reduced taxes.
