Raspberry pi and v43

I’ve been holding off on updating to the new version until it had a bit to get tested. I just got batocera working on my pi4b after a good amount of problems so I’m kinda weary about changing things, but the fix for a Bluetooth controller disconnecting and soft locking you into the game sounds fantastic. Has anyone had any issues with the update on similar hardware?

I’m setting up batocera for the first time on a raspberry pi 4b and I came across the file system limitations page where it says exfat would only be guaranteed to work on gen4 and previous emulators. Since I’m doing all the setup and file transfer on my windows pc it would be much easier to use exfat for everything, but how much would I be missing out on by not trying to make ext4 work with my setup?

I’d like to keep the micro sd I have in the pi since it’s already set up and I’m kinda lazy, so would it be sensible to use a good usb 3.0+ flash drive formatted to exfat? Ideally I’d still be able to take the storage out and add stuff to it but I wasn’t sure how or if this would work with a flash drive. I haven’t bought a new flash drive yet so if there’s other options that might work better then I’d be open to those, but I’d rather not spend a whole lot of money unless it made things easier/more convenient.

I have a rpi 3b which came with the standard OS already installed on the SD it came with. I fully set it up when I got it but I haven’t used it beyond signing in to a few things, and I don’t really care about anything on it currently. Can I just delete everything on the SD and start from scratch with the pre-made image on the retropie website or would this be harmful to the system/SD?
