I tried the best online MTM suit brands so you don't have to. Here's my honest ranking

Note: Not sponsored or affiliated with any of these brands. Just a guy who's bought too many suits.

Here's my honest ranking.

#1. Black Lapel

The best overall online MTM experience. Materials are solid, customization is deep, and they stand behind how it looks great.

  • Super 110s wool, bemberg lining, horn buttons
  • Genuinely deep customization: lapels, vents, pocket style, lining color, pick stitching and more
  • Savoy line steps up to E. Thomas / Vitale Barberis with full canvas if you want to spend more
  • Free remakes if something's off. And they don't make it a fight

At $500 it's the best value in online MTM space.

#2. Proper Cloth

A genuinely good MTM experience. Just comes at a higher price point, starting around $1,100.

  • Sources fabric from high-end mills like Drago and is transparent about it
  • Customization is: lapel, vents, pleats, buttons, lining, thread color and more- Most customizations don't cost extra, which is rare at this level

If budget isn't a concern and you want a step up in fabric quality, Proper Cloth is a great choice.

#3. Suit Supply

Solid online MTM option, just not as customizable as Black Lapel.

  • Fabric quality is excellent; Italian mills, and they actually tell you which ones (VBC, Reda, Drago etc.)
  • Cuts run slim and short. Works great for athletic/slim builds, not for everyone
  • Good fabric transparency and quality but the customization options don't go as deep as Black Lapel

#4. Indochino

Just don't.

  • Submitted my measurements online and the suit came back wrong on basic stuff. Sleeves too long, pant length too long, trouser opening too wide
  • Zero fabric transparency, just "Italian fabrics" with no mill info
  • Advertises half canvas but doesn't pass the pinch test. Expect delamination in 3-4 years
  • Comparable quality to Men's Wearhouse at MTM prices

TL;DR If I had to give a top choice it would be Black Lapel. Best balance of fabric quality, price, real customization, and a guarantee that it looks great. Only minor gripe is the packaging. The suit arrives in a small box with no hanger. Kinda underwhelming. But the suit quality and how it looks great more than makes up for it. If budget isn't an issue Proper Cloth is also an excellent choice.

Sleep Basics That Actually Work

  • Keep the same sleep and wake time every day.
  • Don't go to bed unless you're actually tired. And if you've been lying there for 20 minutes and nothing's happening, get up. Do something quiet, low light, no phone. Just sit there like an old person until you feel sleepy. It works.
  • Your bedroom is for sleeping. Not scrolling, not watching TV, not answering emails at midnight. Just sleep.
  • Keep it cold. Between 15.6C - 19.4C
  • Keep it dark. Black out curtains or a sleeping mask
  • Keep it quiet. Ear plugs (foam or wax).
  • No screens at least 30 mins before bed. Bright light tells your brain it's the middle of the day.
  • Don't eat a big meal right before bed. If you're hungry have something small and light, not a full dinner at 10pm.
  • Cut caffeine.
  • Cut alcohol.
  • Supplements: Melatonin, L Theanine, Magnesium, GABA and B6. I used to buy each individually but now just take it as a drink mix called Som Sleep. Its a lot more convenient then buying and downing individual pills. Plus it helps.
  • Eat whole foods. This one's simple. If it came from the ground or had a mother, eat it. If it was made in a factory and has 47 ingredients you can't pronounce, put it back. Processed junk messes with your blood sugar, your hormones, and your energy levels. All of which feed directly into how well you sleep at night.
  • Lift weights. Actually tire your muscles out. Your body needs to feel like it did something today. Mental exhaustion from staring at a screen all day doesn't count and deep down you know that. Walk every day too. low effort, low stress, and it keeps cortisol levels in check. Just don't go absolutely hammering yourself in the gym at 9pm and then wonder why you're wide awake at midnight.
  • 10-15g of creatine everyday.

Thats it. If you are feeling sleepy throughout the day, that isn't normal. If you wake up and feel tired and unrested that isn't normal. If thats you try these things for 90 days and see if it improves. Good luck!
