How do high-power drone ESCs implement buzzer/alert sounds?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently developing a high-load 46V ESC for a drone, and I want to implement an error indication system (like fault alerts, startup tones, etc.).

For my design, space is very limited, so I’m trying to understand the best approach for a compact buzzer solution.

I’ve noticed that many commercial ESCs (like Hobbywing) don’t seem to have any visible buzzer component, but they still produce beeping sounds during startup and error conditions.

So I have a few questions:

What buzzer technique is best for a compact ESC design?

Any design considerations for high-voltage (46V) ESCs regarding this?

Would really appreciate insights from anyone who has worked on ESC firmware or hardware design.

Thanks!
