Why On Earth Did DA Sign 30 Y/O Buchnevich To 6 Years??

He has 5 years left at 8mil, with a NTC the whole time I believe, and the contract runs 30-36 years old. Genuinely by far the worst contract I’ve seen DA sign in his whole tenure with the Blues and I’m just shocked.

He’s been remarkable in contracts and managing this team but this feels like it will really handicap the team and GM Steen going forward.

With the team having to promote Carboneau & Stenberg soon, + needing to make upgrades this offseason whether it’s draft/free/agency/trade, this Buch contract just feels like an anchor. Hopefully the team can turn it around and Steen can work some magic but I’d be lying if I said I’m not very concerned.

Is Nick Spencer’s Captain America A Good Place To Start?

I’ve seen all the MCU, read Hickman Avengers & Avengers 1-20, and grew up in an era that very prominently featured him so I understand the lore but haven’t read much of the classic or solo stuff. But Spencer’s run seems cool, cheap, and Sam Wilson Cap is something that’s very interesting to me. Would I be okay reading this without much context to anything?

Side question, specifically if Spencer’s run doesn’t read well as a first, what MODOK or AIM stories/runs are the best? I assumed that was an Avengers threat but apparently they’re mainly in Cap comics. I’ve always been interested in them despite much MCU acknowledgement.

Please Let The MCU Recreate This With Johnny Storm (Secret Wars)

As it’s impossible to do a 1:1 adaption of this (no Miles Morales to bring into MCU main universe), recreating this with Johnny Storm and Peter Parker would actually be really fitting. It’s one of the most memorable, funny, and satisfying parts of the Secret Wars comic in my opinion and I was sad thinking how it can’t happen.

But, I think if they swap Miles/Johnny it can be a place for Tom Holland/Joseph Quinn to develop or show chemistry AND bridge their universes, while also having the comedy fit their characters (could absolutely see either of them holding a burger the entire time). Anyone else agree?

Just started watching the show (S2 E16 currently) and I’m shocked to find out Mary stays on the show almost entirely. She seems to run a cult, has exhibited racist behavior, and recently had a whole docu-series about the cult she runs. There are several conspiracies and allegations regarding Robert Sr., his wife, and how he and Mary truly came to be a couple/get the money and church, but I don’t know everything so I won’t speculate.

But there is still concrete evidence this is a scary person, specifically in how she tries to manipulate people in the group. It’s uncomfortable to watch and I’m just wondering, do people actually like her and not see these issues? Do they not care, or see them as problematic? I understand it’s Housewives and if we didn’t want problematic housewives there would be no show, but this seems to enter a different area of sketchy.

Or does everyone hate-watch kind of like I’m doing now? Just curious.

I started the Claremont X run in January and am currently at Wolverine & Kitty Pride/New Mutants 21/Uncanny X 189. I have nearly all of the books and mapped out reading them up until Age of Apocalypse so I’m in for the long run lmao. I want to take a break and read John Byrne’s Fantastic Four soon, especially as I’ve heard I think they crossover at some point.

Any pointers would be helpful! The Claremont run feels like it never loses steam which is great but at the same time makes it hard to find a break point.
