hiking the cranberry lake 50 with some friends at the end of summer. i was a frequent backpacker in my teens but it's been a long while since i've been on the trail. i'm seeking any insights related to bear activity (e.g. should we leave scented deodorant at home? are there places to rent bear canisters or are we allowed to do bear bags? etc); campfires (are they allowed?); other tips or advice? we're also planning on bringing our 3 year old pup with us, assuming it's also allowed.
