Clay health and safety advice!

Hi everyone!

I need advice regarding health and safety for a small ceramics workshop!

I am putting together a ceramics workshop for my dormitory, so far we have some throwing wheels and we are in the process of purchasing a kiln. But I am already getting worried about the health risks, and considering canceling the whole operation unless I can come up with some solutions.

The workshop room is in the basement of our dormitory, so the ventilation situation is not ideal. I know that the clay dust can be harmful over time. Would it be sufficient to just wear a mask while cleaning up? We work in small quantities only once a week, making little stuff like in the picture. I would also set up a sink trap for waste clay, but besides these things is there a health risk I am overlooking?

Any advice is very much appreciated! Thank you so much in advance!
