How are folks delineating historical texts and artifacts from UPG?

Hey all! I'm wondering if there are folks out there like me but who are further along in organizing this kind of information.

I love studying this stuff and want to start writing about it, but I want to be mindful of when and how I label things that are historical from personal interpretations (mine or others). Formatting and tags/labels seem like one way, structured data is another (YAML front matter in a markdown file for example).

I believe both kinds of information are important, but it is crucial to be able to point to what's actually historical vs interpretations that have occurred over time. I in no way think UPG is bad, but I think it's important to be as transparent as possible what's UPG vs what's not. I realize it's not always black and white either, especially with syncretism over time, etc.

Curious how other people are doing this, because surely it can't just be me thinking of this! (Why yes I am a former librarian, why do you ask?)

I accept & embrace my goblin essence

even though it’s sometimes hard to be a goblin in this dominant/unfriendly-to-goblins world.

it’s good to be a goblin.
