Hidden issue

Well this is fun. No one mentioned I would have to buy new tools to do this. I love buying new tools.

I went to start taking the inside apart yesterday and discovered I needed a t50, maybe even bigger torx bit for door hinges as well as an eight sided star bit??? That one’s new to me. I looked through every bit I could find and no luck owning one so I had to order online.

Anyone else run into this issue?

Here’s my thought…

I don’t like how window acs look sticking out of the trailer, or how the seal up against weather. however, in every other way I think they are the way to go over a mini split or a portable ac.

What if I mounted and sealed (using gum gum and silicone) an underbody mount tool box and mounted the ac through the wall into the box? Then when I got to a site, open the box and leave the flap hanging down. I could also mount a switch and an outlet in the box, then if the ac needed more circulation I could plug a little fan into the outlet and have everything wired so that the ac couldn’t be turned on inside without also having the box open and the fan on.

5x10x5 with rear galley and “mid” bed. I’m thinking I don’t want to cut any of the wall supports so should I do two 12x22 vertical windows (one each side) or two each side for a total of four?

So I posted recently about possibly doing a cargo conversion. One of the suggestions was just buy a camper.

I found a little camper online for 7k, in my price range to pay cash and small enough I can pull down the highway easy enough. I went to look at it and it was CRAP. Underside was rotting out, floor plan was awful, kitchen almost useless, no tv, ac probably didn’t work, shower was so short I couldn’t stand in it. I could go on and on. I’ve owned campers in the past and I kinda forgot I guess just how poorly they are built. The manufacturers cram as much stuff in as they can at the cost of any sort of quality at all. Even the beds are a different size.

So guess what I did? I turned down the camper, and went and bought a 5x10x5 single axle the same color as my truck. Had to drive three hours to get it and I pulled it home at 80mph like it wasn’t even there. Barely noticed a difference in gas mileage. Paid 2k for it so plenty of room left in the budget. Pretty sure I can pull this off on 5k.

So I may have some questions here soon….
