These days it feels like layoffs in tech industry are everywhere, which logically leads to a question: what happens to all these software engineers if this continues?

Has anyone here started looking at more “offline” options as a serious backup plan?

Curious what other software engineers are realistically considering. What skills actually transfer well? What sounds practical vs. what is probably just wishful thinking?

Previously I built a bed frame using SPF. It was a good experience and the bed is still in a good shape. However, now I am thinking about building a bed frame from oak, walnut, maple, or cherry. Anyone bought quality wood in Montreal, QC?
