WV Medicaid secondary/new Medicare

WV RESIDENT: I just qualified for disability (SSDI) at the beginning of this month and received noticed my Medicaid is ending. I was told an application was being mailed to me to see if I qualify for a program of Medicaid that covers my Medicare premium, copays, etc.

Instead of an application I received a denial that I do not meet the criteria. This is due to making too much money. The denial states my gross unearned income is $2559. The only income I will have is ssdi, which before they deduct Medicare premium is $1536.10

How do I know where they’re getting the extra $1000 from? I’d like to claim it if they’re going to deny me!

EDITED TO ADD: I am 34/single

I just found out I was approved (yay!) and have received my back pay (before my award letter came in the mail so shocking).

Like many people I am losing my Medicaid coverage, and my Medicare coverage is active (I was awarded back to Jan 2023)

I’m asking about what kind of plans people find the most beneficial that have a LOT of doctors (therapist, hematologist, pcp, neurologist x2, electrophysiologist) and am on about 11 medications.

Do I look at advantage plans? Try to qualify for Medicaid qmb? Can I still get Medicaid qmb if I pick an advantage plan?

I started a GLP-1 and eating in a deficit and my thirst and heat intolerance have sky rocketed. I generally have just been feeling crummy, and having the extra salt is helping.

The temperature and humidity where I live has also been rising, and I’ve been drinking 2 packets of electrolytes (split into halves in 40oz of water each). I typically have one more of just plain water that I drink throughout the night/first thing while I’m waking up.

I’m just wondering how much sodium is too much sodium? Do I need to add more plain water in to help? I’m generally just concerned I’m having too much salt. It’s about 1000mg a packet, and I have stopped salting my food because I increased the electrolytes.

Showering is very hard for me. I pretty much lose a day after I do this, but through sheer grit I am getting in every 1-2 days now.

I’m looking for recs basically- a moisturizing body wash? I have trouble applying lotion due to the fatigue after the showering itself.

Shaving- has anyone given this up and just resorted to going and getting waxing or sugaring done? I absolutely cannot manage to shave anything in the shower other than my pits. It’s summer and I’d like to wear shorts… I do have thigh high compression stockings which hides the hair but I’d like to at least get rid of it occasionally. It makes me feel cleaner.

I apologize if this is commonly asked, but a quick google search didn’t show me anything.

Step 4 seems to be they’re determining if my non-medical issues still qualify me? I’m a little confused what this means.

I had an ALJ hearing at the beginning of April and the person that was there to determine what jobs I’d be capable of said none/they couldn’t find any.

I am young (34 this past April) and I applied in October of 2023. It has been a long process and my lawyer had called right after my hearing to say I was approved.

Looking for insight on what step 4 is/it could mean for my determination.
