All differences in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man costumes
I am a huge Raimi Spider-Man fan and this is a remake of a very old post I made years ago. This is me going crazy over all the tiny details of the Raimi suits lol.
**The Human Spider:**
The most obvious one in terms of differences.
**1.** It's just a quickly put together suit with a red ski mask, red long sleeved t-shirt that has black details for the webs and the logos (back logo is just a black version of the front logo).
**2.** The pants are just simple blue pants which, interestingly has a red stripe going down the sides of both his legs, which is something the suit from TASM1 also shares. Then he also has white and red gloves and shoes.
**3.** This suit also has the most obvious looking blue compared to the Classic suits, which have very dark blues that look like black in some shots.
**Classic Suit (2002):**
**1.** This one has the biggest eyes out of all the Raimi Classic suits.
**2.** The lenses are light grey (almost white) with darker gunmetal grey eye frames and raised webs.
**3.** The front logo is the smallest out of all the Raimi logos.
**4.** The back logo is the fattest one out of all the Raimi back logos, making it more accurate to the comics compared to the other Raimi logos.
**5.** It's also the only one with a printed back logo as the other Raimi suits have raised back logos attached to the suit.
**6.** The red sections on this suit is darker than on the other Raimi Classic suits while the blue sections are lighter compared to the others.
**7.** The hands also have much less webs on them compared to the other suits. Some promotional images show the suit not even having webs on the fingers.
**6.** The webs overall are not as cleanly placed as the 2004 and 2007 suits.
**8.** Something unique to this suit is that it has nozzles on the wrists for the webs to come out and it's weird how it has never returned on any of the other Raimi suits.
**9.** Another thing unique to this suit are the grey soles on the bottom of the boots, which never returned in any of the other Raimi suits except the PC/Console version of TASM1 game, which has the Classic Suit, which is the red and blue Raimi suit of the game and it has the grey soles returning
**Classic Suit (2004):**
**1.** The reds have become a bit lighter while the blues have become darker. The greys are also brighter this time. They also have a stretched out hexagon pattern and shaded muscles, which appear on all the Raimi suits after this.
**2.** The webs have become a bit thicker too. They are also more cleanly placed than 2002. The hands also have more webbing, giving it a more even look though it loses the web nozzles, which never returned after 2002. I've always wondered how the webs came out of the post-2002 suits.
**3.** The front logo is redesigned completely. It's much bigger and slightly more intimidating compared to the 2002 logo. It's also in a lighter color compared to the 2002 logo but due to its larger size, it doesn't look messy. It's also placed a bit higher too. The lower legs are spread apart slightly more compared to the 2007 and 2021 variations of this logo.
**4.** The back logo is also heavily redesigned to be much thinner and it's also a raised element like the webs. Much like the front logo, the lower legs are spread apart slightly more than the 2007 and 2021 variations of this logo.
**5.** The eyes also change a bit as they are squintier this time and the eye frames have become thicker too. The lenses are also darker and in some shots, the lenses have a dark shaded outline around them, which isn't visible in some shots.
**6.** This suit onwards the boots' soles are changed to red and never turn grey in any of the later Raimi suits.
**Classic Suit (2007):**
Barely any different from the 2004 version but it still has some minor differences.
**1.** The reds are lighter again and the blues are darker again. The blues are also a tiny bit purplish this time though it's not super visible.
**2.** The greys have become even lighter this time, with the lenses and the eye frames almost being the same shade this time. The lenses are lighter than 2004 this time and lacks the dark shaded outlines that sometimes appeared in 2004. The eyes also became a bit bigger than 2004 but still smaller than 2002 and the eye frames are a bit thinner compared to 2004. The webs are also thicker than the 2004 ones.
**3.** Both the front and back logos have less spread out lower legs compared to 2004 and they are a bit more closed packed.
**4.** This is overall the cleanest and most high quality looking Raimi Classic suit (weird since Peter is a broke guy, making the Human Spider suit the only realistic Raimi suit) and it's also my favorite one.
**Symbiote Suit:**
This isn't just a black recolored 2007 Classic Suit. It's got some stuff unique to this suit.
**1.** All the red and blue sections have been recolored to black this time. The muscle shading still returns on this suit.
**2.** The logos are very different as they become more aggressive and menacing looking. The front and back logos are also not the same. The back logo is a bit different and unique to this suit, it also has the brick pattern on it.
**3.** The hexagon pattern is much more visible due to them being a bit raised this time and they are a shiny black, which gives the suit a shiny look which is something to be expected from Symbiote suits. Though this suit still manages to look like a fabric suit too which some modern Symbiote suits don't do.
**4.** The eyes have also become much bigger and curved which gives a more menacing look to them. The frames are also a bit thicker compared to the Classic Suit. The webs however, aren't as raised as the Classic Suit.
**Classic Suit (2021)**
Due to the Trilogy suits deteriorating because of their age, the studio had to make a new costume for Tobey Maguire and his stuntman to wear in Spider-Man: No Way Home and while I love this suit like I love all the other Raimi suits, many people seem to dislike this suit a lot.
**1.** The reds and blues on this suit are the darkest out of all the Raimi suits. The brick pattern also returns but it's not as visible as the older suits.
**2.** The webs are much lighter colored and also the thinnest out of all the Raimi suits. They also don't seem to be as cleanly applied and as raised as the Trilogy suits. They seemed to be screen printed like TASM2's suit. They are also placed different compared to the Trilogy suit as they seem to be simplified and more streamlined this time and they curve differently in several areas too.
**3.** The webs on the abdomen go down in a sharper V shape compared to the Trilogy suits. The webbing above the belt also curve a bit, giving Tobey's abdomen a slightly pudgy look which I'm not a fan of. There isn't as much depth to the webs as they had in the Trilogy.
**4.** Speaking of the web placement, the mask got a. major redesign as the webs on the upper section of the mask are spaced out a lot while on the lower section, they are much more tightly packed and have an additional fifth webbing on the nose area. The point where the upper and lower webs meet is also redesigned to be an oval shape instead of just the webs meeting at a point like the older suits.
**5.** The spider logos also got some changes. The front logo is a bit messily applied and the lower legs don't spread out as much as 2004 and aren't as closely packed as 2007. They seem to go down in a straight direction while the back logo has a raised outline to them, which is an interesting change.
**6.** The eyes also changed, with them being almost as big as the 2002 eyes. They are softer and less sharp compared to the Trilogy eyes and the colors went from gunmetal silver frames and silver eyes to black frames and white lenses, which I love actually.
To conclude this, I love all the Raimi suits and there might be more differences that I haven't discovered yet. Who knows? All I know is that I love these suits, I love these movies and I would be so happy if Marvel revisits this universe again some day.
