This face of someone who just cost me thousands of dollars
This is my Pyr/poodle mix, Thor. Thor engages in pica-like behavior when his tummy is upset. Thor just had a bunch of carpet surgically removed from his stomach.
Jokes aside, he’s recovering well and may even get to come home this evening! We’re working with the vet on prevention strategies to keep this from happening again. They were also able to do a preventative gastropexy while they were in there to prevent GDV down the line which provides me with so much peace of mind!
The total, in addition to what I’ve already paid for emergency fees, xrays, etc., is probably going add up to about $8k. Thankfully, I have insurance which should cover 80% over $1k, minus some exclusions (they probably will not cover the gastropexy or exam fees). All worth it for my sweet boy, I can’t stomach the thought of losing him!
