dbrand robot claims that the Prism 2.0 screen protector is anti-reflective.

With everything I've read, Prism 2.0 reflects like glass without anti-reflective properties. Yet the dbrand robot replied to my email with this:

"Hey Human,

Thanks for reaching out. Our Prisms do have an AR coating (anti-reflective). This is a thin, transparent layer designed to cancel out specific wavelengths of reflected light. Unlike matte coatings, it reduces glare without altering the glossy finish or compromising contrast/color accuracy."

What's the story?

Can Samsung phones be scripted to turn a SIM on or off based on a condition?

With Pixels on A17 beta without root, it is almost impossible. The only way I can get it done is to use UI interactions (Macrodroid). I've tried many ADB commands but none worked.

With Samsungs, are there features built-in to allow for an automated SIM on/off based on a certain condition, say, time of day or WiFi connection/disconnection? I read that Modes and Routines cannot do this, but are there other options or has anyone had success using Tasker/ADB over Wi-Fi?

Thanks.

Looking 4 full coverage, anti-reflective screen protector for Z Fold 7/Tri-Fold; Samsung OE, dbrand?

As I understand, the outer screen is the same for the Fold 7 and Tri-Fold. I am looking for something that provides full coverage as opposed to "case friendly". From research, I found that the Samsung OE anti-reflective "film" and the dbrand glass screen protector (might not be anti-reflective) provide full coverage. I am not looking for anti-glare, which is typically a matte finish. I want a glossy surface.

  1. For those who have had experience with either, how well do they provide full coverage?
  2. Is the Samsung OE like a TPU film?
  3. When I went to dbrand's site, all I see is the "Prism 2.0" but it does not state whether is full coverage or case friendly. I read that there are two versions but I am not seeing it. I wrote dbrand and got a robot reply that was useless.
  4. Is an inner screen protector recommended for the Tri-Fold?

I'd appreciate someone sharing your experiences and feedback on these two screen protectors, or any other brands that offer the same.

Thank you.

What is Samsung's historical pattern on supporting limited run hardware (i.e., Tri-Fold)

The practical assumption is that Samsung would put fewer resources into updates, bug fixes, feature drops, etc. on a limited run hardware. With the Tri-Fold's short-lived albeit unusual release and demise, based on history, what is the prognosis on the future updates, fixes, and new features?

I don't buy the "the production was too high and so we built a limited number of units to test the market" claim. The cost-per-unit production cost decreases for every unit they sell. Flying off the shelves like hot cakes even at the steep price, one would think that Sammy would increase production, not pull it. Still even with a rumors of a gen 2, it's odd that they abruptly "sold out" the units. I digress.

Certainly, having one in hand is a great, but will it become a dead-end device sooner than other Samsung products like the Ultra or the ZF7?

Firefox with two profiles, when one profile is closed, it does not release the memory. Normal?

I have a default FF profile with very few tabs and another profile with lots of tabs. Once I spawn the second profile with lots of tabs, even after closing the second profile, all the memory for the lots of tabs remain. I've disabled update in background.

It is only when I close the default profile (and any other open profile) when the memory is returned.

Is this normal? If not, how can I get the second profile to release the resources after closing while keeping the default profile open?

Thanks.

Thinking of diving back into Samsung from vanilla Pixels after many years. How's the water?

I loved the Note phones with S-Pen and my last Samsung device was probably an S3. They made it too hard to root so I decided to make the jump to Google Nexus, then every one of the Pixels that came out. I liked that the Pixels always got the updates first and the latest google features. Now that root is a serious pain, especially with banking apps, I have for the first time decided to not root.

Then the Tri-Fold happened. I had the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, then 10, and love the utility. The Tri-Fold looked like a seriously fun toy. As much as did not like the Samsung bloat and ecosystem, I am seriously thinking about getting back because of the Tri-Fold. I managed to get one yesterday, still sealed in box, so I am at a decision point.

For those who have had experience in both the vanilla and Samsung Android worlds, what is the experience going from vanilla Android to Samsung UI? How was the transition?

I can still use the Google app suites, such as calendar, contacts, dialer and message apps, correct? I also read that Google Voice, especially call using the dialer still works? How much can I de-Samsung (apps like Bibxy) and have a more vanilla experience?

What else should I know before making this transition? What are proprietary Samsung things that I cannot avoid? I want to reduce unnecessary battery drain and make the phone as efficient as possible.

Before I break the seal, please share your experience. Thanks!
