Home fire safety check?
Anyone know a good service to user for a home fire safety check in Edinburgh?
The fire service used to do this (https://www.firescotland.gov.uk/contact-us/home-fire-safety-visits/) but now it's only available to the vulnerable.
There do seem to be private services offering this ("fire risk assessment" seems to be the phrase to google). Many of them are aimed at businesses but some of them do seem to do homes as well: this mostly seems to be aimed at landlords/HMO, but I suppose it would also apply to home owners. Anyone used one of these that was good?
We've just moved into an old flat. It has a crazy old-looking but apparently functional mains-connected fire alarm system that I'd like to get someone to advise about.
It's also on the top floor and the only way out is through the stairwell, would love some advice on what to do if one of the flats below has a fire and the stairwell fills with smoke.
And also just what we should have in terms of fire extinguishers, fire blankets, etc.
