Didn't 3.2 have immense lore implications for R:1999 or am I tripping?
Edit: Yes, I do realize the event has been over for more than a month and yes it is an absolute mess, I just forgot I had this in the drafts ok?
As always I decided to finish the event story about 15 hours before the event closed so apologies if I'm late to the party.
But basically what we see in 3.2 is the fifth Storm and how Manus Vindictae got confirmation that causing more unrest/chaos accelerates Storm formation right?
We also have what seems to be confirmation that people that get reversed end up in the Depths of Myth (basically Jung's collective unconscious on steroids), meaning if they're based enough (Felicienne my goat) they could maybe make their way back to the material realm (Schneider revival in 4.0?). Or maybe I'm completely misreading it
So obviously the Depths of Myth and the Storm are connected in some way. Except the Storm probably doesn't come from the Depths of Myth as it actively stopped the merging of the material world with the Depths.
But what we can probably infer from this (as well as what we've seen before), is that the Storm is a sort of corrective phenomenon, acting to "repair" the unrealities caused by arcanum or whatever else is going on (makes me wonder if the so-called Storm syndrome isn't actively caused by the Storm itself or is just a symptom of the world breaking apart).
Which got me thinking, what if we're working on a three-dimensional plane here? We have the material world, the Depths of Myth (which is the the way the inhabitants of the material world subconsciously perceive it) and then there is the blueprint the Storm is operating on (think Plato's world of forms I guess. Basically a template of how the world "should" be that it's not allowed to diverge too far from).
If my theory is correct (or I'm just spouting obvious stuff, I dunno about community consensus), the Storm acts as a corrective, returning the world to something like a backup. Now, I'm not entirely sure if everyone that is caught up by the Storm just lose their reality privileges and get sent back to the collective consciousness jail in timeout or if Felicienne and Celia just got a save because they went into the depths of myth
Now, I'm not proposing to be a genius when it comes to cosmology or the general R:1999 lore, so I'm very much open to being called an idiot for having missed obvious aspects but still
Also Beryl is mighty suspicious and a gaslighting pro and I still don't get why they call Adele Brume, I very much preferred Adele considering it's the only name they use for almost the entirety of the story and the new name just kinda pops up unless I missed something
