Thank you Party Animals and Bananas!
Today I was honored to be a part of the quartet that sang the National Anthem. We’ve done a bunch of fun things before, but today has to be the most fun I’ve had singing the National Anthem!
The day started out early with a 10:15 arrival at Truist. We got there wearing our Bananas jerseys (we got them to sing last year in Savannah, which was also a ton of fun). We got to hang out, talk to several fans, and watch a little of the pre-show before we were brought backstage to prepare for singing the Man-Nana National Anthem. We had great conversations with a ton of cast members, and got a ROUSING applause from everyone on the green when we performed. Fans came up and asked for pictures, which we happily obliged.
Finally we got into the stadium and changed into our Party Animal jerseys (and changed the bands on our hats) before going down to the dugout. As a lifelong Braves fan, sitting in the BRAVES dugout was beyond surreal. We got to chat with, dance with, and joke around with the players and other cast members before going out to sing the anthem. The response from everyone in the stadium was rabid, and we loved the energy we got from everyone. During the game so many of y’all came up and congratulated us, asked for autographs, and pictures, it was almost overwhelming (in a good way).
After the game we hit up the after party, and while we were waiting to talk to some of the new friends we made in the casts, the craziest thing happened…a line formed to get autographs and pictures with us. We must have signed 150 shirts, jerseys, balls, and other things, and we ended up being one of the last folks in the green. Y’all made us feel so special, like we were part of the cast, and it’s a day I’m never going to forget!
My quartet, Four Fellers (look us up if you’d like on the socials), is all about bringing something to the community, and both times we’ve sung for a Bananaball event (we got to sing in Savannah this past August) there has been such an outpouring of love and support from y’all, it’s been unbelievable. We hope that we get to continue our collaboration with the BBCL and bring our style of music and harmony to y’all not just because it’s fun, but because y’all have been the best audience we’ve gotten to sing for.
From the bottom of my heart, and speaking for the rest of my boys, thank you. Y’all are special, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
