Hello, I just joined my churches worship team and play acoustic. I have a cheap, but nice sounding, acoustic that I have added a fishman pickup to. It works well except it gets lost in the mix. If I play a full F chord, it blends with the bass. If I cheat and only play the higher notes, it is lost with the lead guitarist. As he plays a tele and for lack of better words loves the jangle.
For acoustics I prefer to have a lot of bass coming through. I used to have a Epiphone Hummingbird that I loved, but sadly sold. But from what I am being told I should look into higher treble such as a Taylor. I have played Taylors several times. And while I appreciate the craftsmanship, I am not a fan of that sound while playing solo. I have a budget of around $1000, this will be my first higher end acoustic. Well higher end for me.
So should I go with what I like, more bass. Or go with a Taylor to shine a little more in the mix. I am buying this guitar to perform at church, but I want a guitar that I will also want to pick up at home. I mainly strum but throw in some flat picking when appropriate.
Thank you.
