I spoke with several seniors and current students at Indian Institute of Management Jammu, and the ground reality seems quite different from the hype you often see online. According to them, the actual average placements are closer to around 11–12 LPA rather than the inflated figures being discussed publicly. SIP opportunities also appear to be a major concern, with only around 20–25% of the batch reportedly getting internships through the college process. Most of the available roles are heavily tilted toward core sales, and freshers especially seem to end up with packages in the 10–11 LPA range, again mostly in sales-oriented positions. Some students also mentioned that a significant portion of the batch either remains unplaced for a long time or accepts offers below 6 LPA.
From what I understood, factors like the location, rapid batch expansion, and the addition of IPM programs may have impacted both placement quality and overall peer group quality. I’m not trying to hate on the institute, but I genuinely feel there’s a huge gap between the online perception of IIM Jammu and what many current students are actually experiencing on campus.

Hi everyone,
I’m currently confused between Indian Institute of Management Nagpur and Indian Institute of Management Kashipur for MBA, and I wanted honest insights from people who know about placements, roles, and long-term opportunities.
Some things I’m trying to understand:
- How realistic are the average/median packages shown officially? What is the real average package of this?
- Which college gets better overall companies during placements?
- Where are the roles better in terms of quality and growth?
- Which campus has stronger alumni support and industry reputation?
- For consulting/product/finance/marketing roles, which one performs better?
- Which institute would be better from a long-term career perspective (5–10 years down the line)?
- Does location/networking make a noticeable difference?
I’m looking for genuine advice beyond just placement reports. It would really help if current students, alumni, or recruiters could share practical insights and not just numbers.
Thanks in advance!
