Is recovery possible after the level of corruption and bastardisation of democracy we're witnessing in the west, particularly the US?

As per the title.

Has the illusion of the power of the people finally collapsed, given that there's a large swathes of people actively supporting insane levels of corruption and violations of the very laws and accountability required for a functioning democracy?

Has the whole system been corrupted that recovery is now impossible?

And if so, what do you think is going to follow?

Education and critical thinking is the only elixir

The only way that I think we can counter the powers of the bastards is to have an educated society. But when I look around, I just see utter ignorance. In most cases the people are lacking even the basic capacity to question what is being presented.

I don't think there's a hope in hell for an egalitarian democracy as long as the majority of us start questioning and pushing back on the narrative being force fed to us like how animals are force fed.

I despair at the idea, that there has always been the few that have enslaved the majority of us throughout history and maybe this will continue to be the case for a very long time to come, if not forever.
