Hello fellow fans of the glamorous Madeline Ashton,
We are "Shadow of a Doubt," a budding community theatre troupe in DC specializing in shadowcasting popular movie classics.
We will be performing "Death Becomes Her" (the 1992 movie, not the musical!) this fall 2026 at The Miracle Theatre in Capitol Hill, DC.
Shadowcasting consists in amateur comedians reenacting scenes of a popular picture playing in the background, an interactive movie experience if you will!
Our model is inspired by the wonderfully talented Michigan-based troupe Wandering Lantern Productions.
The reason I am posting in this sub is that we would very much like to attract both fellow theatre nerds and true fans of the material (in this case "Death Becomes Her") to this project! This is a beginner-friendly opportunity to approach (or return to) theatre if you wish to dust off your creative skills and come play with us! This a community-built, not-for-profit environment, built from the ground up, off sweat, tears... and lots of laughter too! Acting roles, prop searching/building, backstage, tech, lights, costumes, makeup artists, understudies… If you can think it... We pretty much need it!
We will be holding auditions for all MC roles (Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis, Isabella Rosselini, Ian Ogilvy) this May 2026 in person at The Miracle Theatre in DC. This project encourages diversity in its casting, doors are open to everyone (with or without prior experience), enthusiasm and work ethics are way more important to us than anything else!
