Opinion on Burning Ambition
My opinion on Burning Ambition!
(May include spoilers?)
I went to see Burning Ambition with my sister on May 7th and I wanna share my review, because I've seen a lot of negative comments about it.
First of all, I wanna say that I kinda liked the movie overall, it was an interesting watch, but honestly, not worth the hype.
I think the thing that disappointed most of us is that there was really nothing new to find out. As Maiden fans, we've all already heard those stories and seen those videos like a thousand times already.
I think they once again focused on the same few things - Paul leaving and Bruce becoming the lead singer, Bruce and Adrian leaving, Bruce being a pilot, Bruce's cancer.. (Always Bruce for some reason 😭 Love him though!)
Instead, I'd much rather hear about things we didn't get the chance to know before. Like what was it all *actually* like, from their perspective.
Also, I did like hearing fans tell their stories, but honestly, I wish we heard more from all of the band members, especially Dave, Janick, Adrian...
Also the footage was so "basic"... The most popular live videos. Once again, I wish there were more things we hadn't seen before, not their most popular concerts.
Another thing, too much focus on their show in Poland '84. I mean we already have a whole documentary about this... I agree that it's very important, but we're talking about 50 years here, and they talked about it for too long.
Now, I did like the vibe, it was nice to see it and I think it's a great film if you're only getting to know Maiden, rather than if you're already a fan (maybe that was their goal, a film summary for new fans?). I liked that the intro was Bruce having that little speech about the Maiden family, honestly it was so sweet.
If I were making this movie, I would've made it differently tbh, but I'm happy with what they gave us, it's kinda good overall.
(also please excuse any grammar mistakes, English isn't my first language 🥲)
