I've been playing on PS5 since launch, took a break for a good while after VoH. And I'm just realizing I never once saw a chat message pop up. but I discovered recently you -can- type in text chat on console. But it doesn't seem to display anyone else's messages, if they're even talking? Like everyone is just silent or emoting. I'll even see characters with the three dots above their head, but no chat message will pop up.

Is there something I need to enable to see people text chatting? I tried looking online and found inconsistent answers, so was hoping for a more up-to-date response on this issue if anyone has any info to share. I do have crossplay enabled and chat seems to be set as open as I can make it.
