Sorry for the delay in posting this! Time line
Life has been incredibly busy, but I wanted to share my VAWA timeline to hopefully give some hope to others going through this process
Here is my journey from a marriage with a US citizen to getting my green card:
2022: Began gathering evidence and preparing my case after separating from my ex-husband.
2023: Officially filed the case with the help of a wonderful non-profit organization in NYC that supports women in these situations. During the process, I had evaluations/interviews with two different psychologists.
5 Months After Filing: Received my initial Work Permit (EAD) and Travel Document (Advance Parole).
2024: Received the official VAWA approval (I-360). Note: Throughout the whole process, I ended up renewing/having a total of 3 work permits.
April 2026 (One month ago): Finally received my Green Card (Adjustment of Status) in hand!
