I've practiced breath work on my own for several years now. Not in any one discipline, but by learning from everywhere and practicing based on my own observation. I understand the importance of working under someone, but that's not my situation at the moment.
So here is where I'm at with my practice, I'm hoping someone could help point me in a direction that would be useful for my position. I have tuned into and developed the fascia, I can shift the weight distribution of different parts of the body. I use this to search for a state of less resistance in the body with each breath. Diaphragmatic breathing is my natural state. This may be unbelievable but my breaths-per-minute (at rest) is about 2 (30 second breaths). This is not to say that I'm training for these, but they are a result of my practice. I list these out in the hopes that someone will recognize where I'm at and be able to help guide me on where to go next.
Even though I somewhat understand what qigong is working with, I really don't understand how it works. My own practice has always been in a sitting or standing posture, working to stop my body from fighting gravity using knots (blockages) by adjusting my center of gravity. Movement is still mostly a mystery to me. Do I need to just do the ba dua jin 10,000 times to knock it into my thick skull? I'm not really sure exactly what I'm asking for. I'm just hoping someone will recognize where I am and point me in the right direction.
I've tried to make this post concise, so please ask questions if you need clarification. Thank you!
