A mate and I are visiting Austin from Australia in September and need to book accomodation. We're both mid 20s so not flush for cash so want somewhere cheap and safe. Anyone have any recommendations of where to stay and general cost? We'll be there for about three days.

Also happy to take suggestions for things to do and any other tips you may have. Currently visiting some friends at college there and want to go to a longhorns game over labor day weekend.
