Anyone wanna help me test a little clip recorder thing?

hey, i've been building a little instant replay tool called Clippy for the past few weeks and looking for a few people to bash on it before I push it wider.

it's basically Shadowplay/Medal but tiny and free. sits in your tray, detects when you launch a game, keeps the last number of seconds in a ring buffer, hotkey saves the clip. NVENC if you're on Nvidia, falls back to AMD/Intel hardware encode otherwise.

mostly want eyeballs on: weird games it doesn't detect, audio getting split wrong (game vs discord vs mic), and any jank on multi-monitor setups.

drop a comment or DM if you wanna try it and I'll send you a build. windows only for now.

website is clippy.rip btw.

Need testers for new clipping software

Hey guys,

First off, ive been using medal for a long time and I really like the service they provide. It’s clean, work very well and is an all-round nice to have app for clipping games.

When I was looking on reddit I saw some users asking for alternatives more leightweight variants of Medal as Medal has been built on electron which is known for pretty heavy load on system resources. Ofcourse when you have 32GB of RAM there shouldnt be any issues, but if you are running 16GB’s of RAM and the game is taking up 15GB and chrome + other processes also need RAM then it will fill up pretty quickly.

For this reason I’ve decided to create an alternative. For the people who want Medal, but just a little more simple and leightweight. I dont want to steal users from Medal, but just provide an alternative solution to users who might need it.

If you are interest in helping out with testing (as it still needs to be debugged quite a bit) please let me know. I’ve created a Discord server and website is also live.
