cannot believe sakura was chosen, just based on this performance the group will flop
i have so many opinions on hybe choosing sakura. watch the video and you’ll see why. she doesn’t fit on any level. she’s too young, her visuals are too childish, her vocals are weak making her accent even more prominent, her dancing is stiff and unnatural which doesn’t follow the beat, the live and online audience both don’t want her as the final piece, she’s too unfamiliar with the pop industry, her personality doesn’t fit them and the other three girls will have to turn down their chaotic energy, her “star quality” is a result of her being given the lines that make her stand out (like the split). i don’t know what hybe was thinking but they definitely have lost many supporters.
edit: to add on, another major factor as to why the group would flop so badly is due to the lack of fan voting. i watched dream academy, and i have to say: the fan voting is a major contribution as to why katseye thrived during their debut era (not so much now). it really does give a sense of who the audience likes, which makes a lot of sense since majority of the support comes from the audience themselves. for example, sophia was a fan favourite, but the hybe coaches just didn’t like her. however she made it in because of the fan voting, and katseye admittedly wouldn’t do as well without her given that she’s somewhat unproblematic compared to her members. fan voting is absolutely important because the group isn’t just for hybe to watch, it’s for the global audience. although, now it really does seem like the only people interested in saint satine are hybe staff.
