Fenix 51mm Sapphire AMOLED
I found a brand new garmin fenix 8 DLC one for €735 (normal price everywhere €999). Should i buy it? Unfortunately it’s not the MIP version. Thos are still €1000, I’m really hesitating.😂 i have now the AWU3.

Hey everyone,
I could really use some advice here because I’m going in circles.
Right now I’m using an Apple Watch Ultra 3 as my main watch, but I still have my old Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Solar lying around (I want to go back to Garmin)
It still works perfectly fine (maps, Pulse Ox, good battery, etc.), so I could technically just keep using that for sports/outdoor.
However, I’m considering getting a newer Garmin — mainly because I’ll most likely buy the Fenix 9 when it releases (probably this fall). So this would only be a temporary watch for a few months.
My options:
Option 1 – Keep the Fenix 6 Pro Solar
Already have it
Still does everything I need
Costs me nothing
Old
…
Option 2 – Fenix 7X Pro Solar
I can buy it new for around €420–470
Second-hand prices right now: ~€400–450
Seems like a safe/low-risk option
Option 3 – Fenix 8 (51mm amoled)
Here’s where it gets interesting:
I can get the Sapphire Titanium Carbon Gray DLC version for ~€735
OR the Slate Grey steel (Gorilla Glass) version for ~€760
Second-hand prices right now:
Fenix 8: ~€700–720 (often used, no warranty)
My thinking:
Fenix 7X Pro = cheaper, already depreciated → less loss
Fenix 8 = newer, better UI, mic/speaker → probably easier to resell
But I’ll likely sell it again when Fenix 9 drops
Questions:
Would you even upgrade in my situation, or just stick with the Fenix 6 pro solar and wait for the 9?
Between the 7X Pro solar vs Fenix 8 amoled, which makes more sense short-term?
Which one do you think will be easier to sell in a few months when the Fenix 9 comes out?
And specifically: is the Carbon Gray DLC titanium + sapphire version at €735 a no-brainer compared to the Slate Grey steel version?
Appreciate any input — especially from people who’ve gone from Fenix 6 → 7 → 8 🙌
