So I am retiring in July at 60. Broadly half my savings are in ISA and half in SIPP with an additional DB scheme.

The DB scheme will provide just short of my 12k allowance (plus a lump sum when I retire). In a few years time my state pension should also kick in.

I understand that for every £5 I take in tax free cash from the SIPP I have to crystallise £15 which is taxed if i then withdraw it and of course cash from the ISAs are tax free.

Am I correct that pretty much the most tax efficient way to withdraw from the SIPP will be to take a balanced approach using ISA and SIPP in tandem.

I’ll be in the 20% tax rate and unlikely to withdraw into the 40% rate.

Trying to figure if it’s actually worth paying as little tax as possible for the first few years (ie draw mainly from ISA) to allow the SIPP to grow further- which I am thinking will “increase” what constitutes 25% (with the 268k limit in mind)?

Probably a dumb question - but does the Ryder cup ballot simply give you first dibs on buying over priced day tickets - or does being drawn give you discounted rates?

Beginner golf player here and get to play a fair bit mid-week bit interested in spectating too.

The “big” tournaments like the bmw open etc are quite pricey and i’d be going alone but noticed there’s a fair few PGA national tournaments local to me over the summer where I’m sure the standard is not particularly high overall I would imagine theres gong to be some good players taking part.

Is it quite normal for there to be spectators at such tournaments or is it a bit weird?
