Is it safe to look at the Sun during sunset without filters using a binocular?

Hey guys, I've been playing around with my Celestron 10x50 binos for over a year now, and over the last month or so, I'm able to see the Sun very clearly when it's near the horizon (about 5-10 deg.) and I've pointed my binoculars at it and I'm able to make out the Sun spots clearly and the Sun's light is not harsh enough to pain my eyes when looking. It has been one of my favorite things to do with my binos other than looking at the Moon.

Is this okay to do or am I inviting other consequences that are not apparent righ tnow? Cause all my life I've been taught to not look at the Sun directly let alone with any magnifying lenses, but when the Sun is low on the horizon as opposed to high in the sky, I can stare at it no problem.
