I did it! It worked. And now to print.

I played mad scientist and made a gelatin plate. No real big deal in the kitchen. Mixed well, no bubbles, a few occlusions inside. Easy enough out of the mold, Saran wrapped.

My question is what to clean it with after printing? I’m thinking water might degrade, melt the plate.

Baby wipes?

I’ll use this plate til I can’t then make another. I think I’ll double the recipe so in the 9x13 in. tray the plate will be 1/2in. thick.

2 Tbspn per 1 cup liquid
1 cup cold water
1 cup boiling water
1 cup glycerin

Bloom gelatin in cold water, minimize pop bubbles

Add boiling water, glycerin

Pour in mold

Refrigerate to set 4-5 hours

Sharp knife around the edges to remove

Now for the printing fun….

I’d enjoy any feedback so far.

Thanks.

Why am I so intimidated? The choice of plate? Fear of failure?

I have a Speedball plate and all others tools, paper to start.

But only acrylic paints. I missed the part on the label that said no acrylics.

Anyone try a Speedball plate with acrylics?

Other brands? Make your own?

I’m trying to be brave.

Thanks for being here.
