ProjectionLab vs RightCapital through a YouTuber course?

I’m trying to decide between ProjectionLab and getting access to RightCapital through one of the finance YouTuber courses. ProjectionLab at least has a free trial, which makes it easy to test first, but the RightCapital option is basically a straight $399 upfront.

If anyone here has used either one, or both, I’d really appreciate hearing whether the YouTuber RightCapital access felt worth it, whether it seemed limited in any way, and which one you ended up preferring. Apologies if you’re seeing this in more than one subreddit. I’m posting in a few places just to get a wider range of feedback.

Screwed up my W-4, owed $5k… now I’m panicking about safe harbor rules

I think I screwed up my withholding and I’m trying to understand if I’m overthinking this.

For 2025, I ended up owing the IRS $5,321 (married filing jointly). The issue goes back to late 2024 when I started a new job and had my withholding set up wrong. That carried through all of 2025, and I didn’t realize it until filing in 2026.

My first thought was simple: just fix my W-4, increase withholding, and cover that $5,321 over the year.

But then I learned about the 110% safe harbor rule, and now I’m confused. From what I understand, because our income is higher, avoiding penalties may mean paying in 110% of last year’s total tax, not just covering what I owed.

So now I’m not sure what I should actually be aiming for:

  1. Just withhold enough so I don’t owe again
  2. Try to hit safe harbor even if that means overwithholding a lot

Am I understanding this right, or am I making this more complicated than it needs to be?
