things i wish i knew before sending my first 10,000 cold emails

thought it was just about writing a good email and hitting send… burned through domains in 2 weeks

couple things i learned the hard way:

warmup isn’t optional, rushing it just kills everything later bad data ruins campaigns before they even start scaling volume too early = instant deliverability issues broad targeting sounds good but gets you ignored follow-ups bring most of the replies, not the first email once i fixed just targeting + list quality, reply rates went from ~1% to 3–4% without changing much

what’s one mistake that cost you the most when you started?

everyone talks about improving cold email results, but barely anyone talks about what setup you actually need before you even start testing

what’s the minimum setup you believe is necessary before running cold email properly

is it just gmail and manual sending, basic domain setup with warmup, or a full stack with tracking and validation

i’ve seen people get stuck for weeks just because they start testing messaging without clean data or a proper system, so now i’m wondering where people draw the line between good enough to start and too early to scale

what’s your take?
